Who’d have believed it?…

Georgian scientist Sir Humphry Davy (1778-1829), inventor of the safety Davy Lamp and guardian angel of Michael Faraday, wrote poetry.

He wrote it mixed-in with his lab notes. He published very little of it in his lifetime, preferring to show it only to a few friends. Reams of his poetry are only now coming to light.
