Complaints from residents of Tampa Bay, Florida about night-time heavy rhythmic thumping from a noisy party going on nearby have provisionally been traced to the mating habits of the Black Drum fish.

These obstreperous fish are in the habit of collectively generating a booming sound from their swim bladders as part of their mating display.
