The last resting place of poet, writer, composer, musician, artist and illustrator Edward Lear (who wrote The Owl and the Pussy-Cat) is in San Remo, Italy. He is buried next to his faithful friend and chef Georgio Cocali.

Known mostly for his nonsense verse and deceptively lame limericks, few appreciate the breadth and quality of his artistic achievements. He was the first major bird artist to draw from live birds instead of skins.
