As the English House of Commons agonises over the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill, this blog wonders how “having undeclared religious beliefs” differs from “having a conscience” – and whether having one or the other isn’t viewed as reprehensible in these unprincipled times.

If this Bill passes into law, in whatever form, what with the National Health Service conspicuously degenerating into a National Veterinary Service for human animals, this blog suspects that, when someone decides you’re no longer fit to live, you’ll have no more say in the matter than your pet cat.
