As I Walked Forth One Summer’s Day
Songs and Lute solos by Robert Johnson
Burton Constable Hall, Skirlaugh, Hull HU11 4LN
Sunday 16th June, 12.30
An hour’s programme by Jenny Hill (voice) & Simon Nisbett (lute).
Given as part of Northern East Early Music Forum.
No charge for the concert, but an entry fee is payable for the house.
Robert Johnson (c. 1583 – 1633) was an English composer and lutenist of the late Tudor and early Jacobean eras. He worked with William Shakespeare providing music for some of the later plays.
Jenny and Simon, of “Merry Melancholy”, put on a splendid show for us all at La Rosa in March least year, a performance which was repeated in Scarborough and elsewhere on subsequent occasions.
I would commend this new show to all our members, if you can get yourselves down to Hull for June 16.
Maybe we can look forward to them performing nearer home soon?
