Play Reading

This meeting was devoted to a reading of Adele’s play: Sex, Lies and Baking Cakes.

The play has 4 characters:

Sandra: Kaz — Nearly 40 years of age. A successful businesswoman with no children, recently divorced, very busy with work. Lives in Leeds.

Carly: Fiona — Sandra’s best friend since they were young children. Also nearly 40. Never married, and in a fluid relationship with two bisexual men and is also bisexual herself. She never takes work seriously and is an environmental activist. Lives in Manchester.

Ray: Peter — Sandra’s father. Has traditional northern working-class attitudes to life. Spends a lot of time at his Bowls Club.

Sybil: Pip — Sandra’s mother. Always been there for the family. A good baker and home-maker. Her health is now declining rapidly with Alzheimer’s Disease.

The play-reading finished around 12:40 PM. The ensuing discussion was lively and enthusiastic.
