From Jenny Hill …

JENNY HILL & BOB BUTTERFIELD

The Lunchtime Concert at St John’s on Friday 21st August will feature Poetry by Jenny Hill, showcasing poems from her new book, along with Flute interludes by Bob Butterfield, which will play around the various subjects of the poems. Whitby is a main player in many of the poems, but there are other moods and characters to contrast those. Jenny’s book will be on sale at £10 a copy.

Jenny Hill was born in St Ives, Cornwall, and the landscape, people and life of the Artists’ Colony gave her a great foundation for the creative life. She has worked as a singer, teacher, artist and Anglican Priest. This, her fourth book of poems, is featured on a new platform, ‘Innocent Murmurs,’ where a Whitby-based selection, accompanied by Douglas Hill’s paintings and piano interludes by Simon Conning; these can be heard and seen at a new music platform https://innocentmurmurs-music.org/.

Bob Butterfield has been teaching and playing woodwind in the Scarborough and Whitby area since 1980. He has played professionally as a flute, saxophone, and clarinet player. Since teaching began to take over more of his time he’s continued to play in a semi-professional capacity on all three instruments. Even though he has been teaching and playing for forty years, he is as enthusiastic and eager to succeed as he was back in 1980.

The Performance begins at 11.45 on Friday 21st August. Entry is free, with a retiring collection.
