Our member Adele Duffield is pictured here celebrated her award of Master of Arts in Creative Writing with Distinction from Teesside University. After a one-year full-time programme packed with interesting modules covering all aspects of creative writing including drama, poetry, performance, short stories and fiction writing, she now feels ready to write more professionally with the skill and expertise required to be successful.
The ceremony was held at the recently refurbished Middlesbrough Town Hall and all graduates celebrated their success together at the Winter ceremony followed by refreshments and fizz in The Crypt below the main hall.
Having already completed a full-length play called Sex, Lies and Baking Cakes and written several poems she continues to send her work out to theatres and is currently entering various competitions with her poetry.
“Before this course, I lacked the confidence in my own ability to write, but with the help of my tutors and peer group feedback which I have received over the past year both there and through the Whitby Writing Group, I now feel capable enough to call myself a writer. I’ve learnt so much, and would really recommend it to anyone. Thanks to everyone who has supported me in this journey.”
Congratulations, Adele! Sky’s the limit, now.

Thanks Ian. Heard back from two theatres on my play submission – unsuccessful I’m afraid but, as one door closes…
