Received last Thursday from Freedom From Torture …
Hi Ian,
I wanted to share this email with you as your compassion makes a real difference to survivors.
We’re facing serious financial pressure and without support, we may not be able to continue to support survivors in need. Which is why your help matters so much right now.
Please can you » DONATE NOW « to help our survivor clients in these difficult times?
As a clinical therapist, I see clients who are trying to heal from complex and often harrowing trauma, but are also struggling financially. Our Emergency Relief Fund provides a vital safety net, and we have to raise the funds before the end of May to keep it running.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read the following email.

Subject: Emergency Relief FundHi Emine,
Just following up on your question about the current standing of our Emergency Relief Fund. To be honest – it’s not good news.
Like many charities, we’re feeling the strain of the financial climate. Since 2024, donations have fallen, as the cost-of-living continues to rise. At the same time, more clients are struggling to make ends meet and the demand for emergency financial help is greater than ever.
As the Emergency Relief Fund is fully funded by our supporters, we are now worried about the Fund’s future.
Put simply:
If we’re to continue meeting survivors’ urgent needs over the next 12 months, we need to raise an additional £12,000 by the end of May.
I’m sorry to share this. I know the survivors you’re seeing for therapy are already telling us they are running out of options as other charities have been forced to close recently.
I can only hope we can keep this lifeline open for those in need.
Best wishes,
Iain
